Description[ | ]

Kasha, Farmhand, also known as "Fox", is a Tier-3 Sniper, able to outright kill most units in one or two shots at a range of 6 tiles. Unlike other ground units, Kasha can see like fliers and has the added benefits of being swift, making her very difficult to capture.

Story[ | ]

Kasha is a sniper who was raised in the country but appears to work as a spy/mediator between the different factions in hopes of stopping the war and allowing everyone to live in peace. She gained her sniper skills by practicing killing troublemakers from a roof. It's implied that the Quartermaster hired her as a sniper due to her speed and skill as she is revealed to be a spy working for the KSR, but she heavily prefers to be in the country as the city and war makes her miserable. She is close friends with Hopper and seems to be at least an ally of Bellafide.

She first appears in the Skirts where she is sleeping and recovering from what Hopper presumes to be a war wound. By Hopper's final mission, she finally awakens and thanks Hopper for giving her a home where she's comfortable, but to her annoyance, Hopper immediately drags her into a battle to steal meat from the KSR. She obliges feeling in debt to Hopper for housing and taking care of her. Later, she is seen in the labs of the KSR where she is maintaining her rifles, the Quartermaster speaks to her, revealing she is indeed working for the KSR as a spy. Kasha suggests that based on intel she has gathered, the Civilized are the only groups not willing to compromise and the Longcoats, Commonfolk and KSR ultimately have the same goal and should work together, and while the Quartermaster agrees with her idea, sympathizing as she too detests the fact that they're fighting, she laments that the state of affairs won't allow them to live out that dream and tells her to continue her duties for now. Later on, she is seen in the Civilized table, upset that the Commonfolk she helped steal meat from were not satisfied and that she had to come to the table as it's the only place where food remains. Archimedes seems to appreciate her joining the Civilized but is also surprised by her decision, carrying an air of suspicion for her purposes, but appreciating the fact that she chose to wear yellow. It's revealed that her suggestion did come to fruition as Archimedes is told by the Sage to go destroy the very town she suggested under fear a new civilization would undercut his rule. Kasha can also be found wearing yellow in the Longcoat's base at this point, where Bellafide is angry that a yellow would show up, but Kasha calms him down revealing it's her and assures him she is spying on the Civilized to gather more intel.

Despite natively being a Commonfolk and working directly for the KSR, Kasha is determined to stop the factions from fighting each other through diplomacy and has earned the trust of all four faction leaders, However, while by the end she is affiliated with the Civilized, she is settled at her own camp being neutral in the final mission until someone recruits her, implying that while she is willing to fight to end the war, she no longer wants to take sides in the mice's feud.

Strategy[ | ]

With her added vision and swift speed, Kasha is at her best when she's picking off units from a distance and running away before anything can catch her. To use her effectively, she needs a fair bit of micro control as well as map awareness.

Playing with Fox[ | ]

When you have a fox, you want to be constantly skirting the edge of the opponent's army picking off units whenever you can. This does two things. Firstly, it immediately decreases your opponent's army number, forcing your opponent to use up food to re-produce the units you pick off. Secondly, it forces your opponent to turn their attention to dealing with your fox or otherwise continue to waste away food on producing more units. When the opponent finally tries to retaliate, use your commander to have Kasha run a few steps back, turn around and take a shot, and run again, kiting your enemy until they either give up the chase, in which case you can pick off additional units as they flee, or they pursue you long enough that you can retaliate with your own army. That being said, be wary of where you're leading your fox during the chase; If you're not careful you may run into a dead end where she can be quickly focused down due to her low health pool. Bringing lizards or pigeons can be a good way to support the Fox, via high-ground vision, heal, and frontline, but be warned that the pigeons will not be able to keep up with the lizards' and fox's speed

Playing against Fox[ | ]

Kasha's main disadvantage is her inability to target structures. Placing structures such as the Machine Gun Nest and the Sniper Balloon creates a zone that foxes wouldn't want to be in, lest they get shot down before being able to do anything. Kasha gets her value from constantly picking off units without retaliation, so preventing her from doing so forces your opponent to using her in a fight as opposed to the ideal scenario where she's picking off your units. In the occasion you don't have any defensive structures, your only option might be to try and chase down the fox. Take a look at the map to see if there are any dead end you might be able to corner her in and take her out. Lizards can do this much more efficiently than other units as they can match the fox's speed and can catch up to her if she stops to shoot. Alternatively, instead of taking harassment, you can take the fight to her army, as she offers relatively little compared to other tier 3 units in a straight fight due to her slow reload speed. It's best if you can get her to waste her high damage shots on tier 1 units where most of the damage is wasted in overkill. If she's trying to get hits onto your healthier targets, chances are she's out of position; if you can, try to focus her down to make her a non-factor for the rest of the fight.

Trivia[ | ]

  • Kasha is voiced by Sunni Westbrook
  • Kasha and Uncle Butter seem to be the only characters who sympathize with all four factions. Though Uncle Butter merely is the chef for hire, Kasha genuinely wants to stop the war. She seems to have the purest heart of all characters.
    • This is reinforced by the fact that she suggested a peace treaty between the KSR, Commonfolk and Longcoats which was actually successful until Archimedes destroyed the peace, and despite a temporary alliance, the three factions would be at each other's throats again when the pigs spread rumors amid the four of them. She also is genuinely upset when the Commonfolk stole meat from the KSR during the final Commonfolk mission, griping that it wasn't enough for them and not wanting to aid them in theft anymore.
  • It's unclear if Kasha is working primarily on behalf of the KSR or Commonfolk. She and Hopper appear to be close friends, but the Quartermaster trusting her as a spy isn't an easy level of trust to achieve. Given her demeanor though, it sounds like she doesn't like working for the KSR but was hired because of her skill and feels that being in the military is the best chance to stop the war, given her suggestion to the Quartermaster, but she seemed genuinely upset about Hopper suggesting raiding the KSR's kitchens, enough to leave them for the Civilized temporarily.
