Description[ | ]

Uncle Butter (sometimes called "boar") is the Tier-3 you want if you are looking for an AoE tank in your ranks. The Boar has the highest health in the game at 110 and also wields a flamethrower that lights up 6 random tiles around an enemy target dealing 4 DPS to ground units standing in the flame, making him ideal against large army compositions. The Boar is especially useful at burning down bases, as its napalm does a massive 24 DPS to structures. In addition, it explodes upon death dealing 20 damage in a small radius. Uncle Butter moves at half speed while attacking, which allows him to continuously shoot fire while he repositions in combat, but leaves him highly committed to an offensive.

Strategy[ | ]

The Boar does 3 main things: 1) he deals damage across a large number of units; 2) he can take a lot of hits; 3) and he's quick to destroy warrens and gristmills. Unlike any other Tier-3 unit the Boar is a specialized AoE tank. And while other Tier-3 units may have more single target damage, when it comes to decimating large armies and living to tell the tale, the Boar outperforms them all.

Playing with Boar[ | ]

Boar is the healthiest unit in the game. This allows boar to block much damage for his teammates and roast large groups of enemies for quick and easy AoE clear. Running Pigeons allow him to tank and stay in the front lines for a very long time, forcing your opponents to choose between trying to out-DPS the pigeon heals while getting roasted or trying to deal with the pigeons first... while getting roasted. Uncle Butter(s)'s 4 DPS might not seem like a lot purely from a number's perspective, but with the ability to roast up many units at one time, Uncle Butter(s) can torch the enemy's army to cinder if not taken care of. Uncle Butter(s) makes short work of most Tier-1 leaving the beefier Tier-2 and Tier-3 units, making it much easier to focus down more the unsupported higher priority targets. A common strategy involves sending the Boar forward to trade enemy T1 units for some of the Boar's HP and then letting the Boar regenerate its health through pigeons heals. Uncle Butter(s) is also very good at taking out structures, especially tight clusters of warrens or ground defenses, due to the 6x structure crit that the flamethrower enjoys.

Playing against Boar[ | ]

Boar's strength comes from having a lot of potential total DPS rather than single target DPS. As a result, keeping your Tier-1s away from him and letting other units such as snakes or falcons deal with him (and any possibly pigeons) is usually a much better option. A total of 11 poison stacks will ensure the passing of Uncle Butter(s), while having Falcons turns the boar into nothing more than a meatshield as Uncle Butters is unable to hit air units. Building your own Tier-3 unit can also be a valid choice as any other unit offers more single target damage compared to Uncle Butter(s). Spreading out your units and defenses is a very effective strategy against the Boar. It is generally better to target the weak supporting units, especially pigeons (4 HP), ideally through flanking attacks where these units are engaged first. The use of sniper balloon is especially deadly against Boars, as they are unaffected by its flamethrower and possess good single target damage.
